Kaitlyn Ferguson joined the Illinois staff as assistant coach in June 2021.

Ferguson comes to Illinois with over 10 years of coaching experience. She most recently was at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant coach and head recruiting coordinator. Ferguson mainly coached the middle-distance stroke group and the sprint group. Under her leadership, the men’s 400 freestyle relay won the program’s first Ivy League championship in 50 years.

Growing up in Mamaroneck, N.Y., Ferguson began her coaching career with the nationally renowned Badger Swim Club. While working with the Elite Senior Team, she coached a variety of swimmers ranging from sectional qualifiers to Olympic Trials qualifiers.

Ferguson graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, where she was a member of the women’s swim program, including the team’s 2006 Big Ten championship. She earned All-America honors while at Penn State and is also a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier.
