Education:
Hamlet earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Hofstra University in 2012 and her master’s degree in sport leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014.
Responsibilities:
At Illinois, Hamlet oversees the academic programs for the men’s basketball, volleyball, women's golf, and women’s tennis teams.
Past Experience:
Prior to her arrival at Illinois, Hamlet worked at UMass Athletics where she served two stints, first as a tutorial coordinator and academic counselor during the 2015-16 academic year, and again from 2017-22 as Senior Assistant Director of Academic Success and Coordinator of Advising.
At UMass, Hamlet oversaw the academic support services, NCAA eligibility and degree completion for the softball (2017-19), men's basketball (2017-21), women’s basketball (2019-22), football (2019-22), and women’s track & field/cross country (2019-22) programs. She coordinated the department's advising efforts across campus with the various schools and colleges and administered the bi-annual advising & registration program, which led student-athletes towards proactive and informed course selection with the campus' advisors. Additionally, Hamlet oversaw the efforts in faculty feedback and advising as well as support for other departmental events. Hamlet championed diversity by co-creating the inaugural A Call to Action Research Fair in 2020 with the Office of Equity and Inclusion as well as executing the first regional Northeast Black Student-Athlete Summit in 2021.
Before UMass, Hamlet coordinated Virginia Commonwealth University’s Student-Athlete Support Services tutorial efforts in addition to directly working with a Rams' Olympic sports program. At the University of Delaware, she served as a postgraduate intern in the Student Services for Athletes office.
Prior to shifting to academics, Hamlet worked in various administration and event management roles at organizations such as the Orlando Magic and Disney Sports. She also spent four years as the head student manager for Hofstra women’s basketball.
Personal:
Hamlet is a current member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), a 2017 graduate of N4A’s Professional Development Institute, 2021 NCAA Leadership Academy Workshop participant, 2022 Effective Facilitation Workshop participant, and is trained in DiSC Facilitation.
