Miranda Rodriguez

Miranda Rodriguez joined the Fighting Illini Softball staff in August 2022 as the volunteer assistant coach.

She heads to Illinois after serving in the same role at Memphis during the 2022 season. 

Rodriguez began her collegiate softball career at Cosumnes River College in 2017, leading the Hawks with 67 hits including 14 extra-base knocks. She owned a .424 batting average and drove in 37 RBI. From there, she transferred to the Big 12. Across her four seasons at Kansas (2018-21), the Elk Grove, California, native appeared in 90 games for the Jayhawks. Rodriguez primarily played middle infield at Kansas.

Rodriguez earned numerous honors for her efforts in the classroom including being a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree, four-time Kansas Athletic Director's Honor Roll and four-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Additionally, she was also involved in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

After earning both her bachelor's (exercise science, May 2020) and master's degrees (sport management, Aug. 2021) from Kansas, Rodriguez joined the softball staff at Memphis for the 2021-22 campaign.

Across the summer of 2022, Rodriguez was a head coach in the Florida Gulf Coast League, hosted in Bradenton, Florida. The league is made up of collegiate athletes from all over the United States, covering all divisions and conferences of NCAA softball.
