Emergency Action Plan: George Huff Gymnasium
(Athletic Training Room, Weight Room and Wrestling Room)
Address: 1206 South Fourth Street, Champaign
Venue Directions: Huff Gymnasium is located at the SOUTHEAST corner of South Fourth Street and East Gregory Drive.
Court Level Entrance: Court level access is from SOUTHEAST corner of the building.
- Access weight room (basement) and wrestling room (third floor) from elevator/stairs located in SOUTHEAST corner (elevator is available in the southeast corner but will not fit a gurney or spine board).
- Access athletic training room (basement) is from elevator/stairs located in NORTHWEST corner or stairs located in NORTHEAST corner.
Emergency Personnel:
Certified athletic trainer and athletic training aide(s) are on site for practice and competition; additional sports medicine staff accessible from Memorial Stadium athletic training room (217-333-6718)
Emergency Communication:
Fixed telephone lines located in the weight room (217-333-6705) and gymnasium (217-244-7030).

Emergency Equipment:
- Supplies (AED, splint kit, spine board) maintained in Huff Gymnasium athletic training room or on site of athletic event.
- Weight Room: AED located on East wall near entrance to weight room.
Roles of First Responders
- Immediate care of the injured or ill student-athlete.
- Activation of emergency medical system (EMS): CALL 9-1-1
- Provide name, address, telephone number
- Number of individuals injured
- Condition of injured
- First aid treatment
- Specific directions for access to venue
- Other information as requested
- Be the last to hang-up
- Emergency equipment retrieval
- Direct EMS to scene
- Designate an individual to "flag down" EMS, prop open doors if locked and direct to scene:
- One person will be at the SOUTH driveway entrance
- One person will be at the SOUTHEAST side building entrance
- Designate an individual to "flag down" EMS, prop open doors if locked and direct to scene:
- Scene control: limit scene to first aid providers and move bystanders away from area.
- All transported student-athletes will be directed to Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department located at 611 West Park Street, Urbana, IL; 217-383-3313.
- A staff member (athletic trainer or assistant coach) will accompany student-athlete to the hospital in the ambulance.
