Illinois Wrestling Unveils 2027 Big Ten Schedule

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced the Fighting Illini's 2027 conference dual schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 29, setting the stage for Illinois to take on eight league contenders. The slate features four matchups at home and four on the road.
Illinois begins its Big Ten schedule in Champaign on Friday, Jan. 8, welcoming in-state rival Northwestern to Huff Hall. The Illini hold an advantage in the all-time series against the Wildcats, with Illinois holding the most recent victory 44-3 when the teams met in Evanston in February earlier this year. Illinois will then make its way to Indiana on Jan. 10, to face the Hoosiers before traveling back home to face Iowa five days later on Jan 15. The Hawkeyes have maintained the upper hand historically, giving Illinois an opportunity to challenge one of the conference's top powerhouses.
The Illini will get back on the road Sunday, Jan. 24, for a dual with Nebraska. Nebraska has consistently been ranked among the best in the nation with Illinois last beating the Cornhuskers on Jan. 5, 2018. Michigan follows on Friday, Jan. 29, when the Wolverines travel to Champaign.
The final home dual of the season comes Friday, Jan. 31, when Maryland visits Champaign. Illinois has never lost a match to Maryland in their total of nine meetings dating back to 2007. Illinois opens February on the road, traveling to Minnesota for a Friday, Feb. 12, matchup. The Illini close out the regular season Sunday, Feb. 14, with a trip to Madison to face the Wisconsin Badgers.
