CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Fighting Illini softball head coach Jenna Hall announced the addition of Florida Atlantic transfer and right-handed pitcher Ashlynn Durkin on Tuesday morning. Durkin, a rising sophomore, has signed a Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreement with Illinois, and is set to join the program for the 2026-27 season.
Durkin joins the Fighting Illini after spending her freshman season at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida. In her first collegiate campaign, she made four appearances in the circle and pitched a total of five hitless innings. Against UMass on February 22, she earned the first victory of her career.
"Since I was little, it has been a dream of mine to play for Illinois," shared Durkin.
"After meeting the coaching staff I knew this was the right place for me."
A native of Downers Grove, Illinois, Durkin was selected All-State and All-Conference three times during her high school career at Downers Grove North.
