
Luffman, Moore Each Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Two University of Illinois wrestlers Luke Luffman and Spencer Moore were named to College Sport Communicators Academic All-District At-Large list, the association announced Tuesday (June 16).
To be eligible for the recognition, a nominee must have at least a 3.50 GPA and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Eligible nominees must be in the lineup for at least 75 percent of team scoring events (open tournaments, duals) or compete in their weight class at a conference championship meet.
Luffman wrestled at heavyweight for the Orange and Blue where he went 14-9 overall, 9-3 in duals and 3-1 in Big Ten duals. He placed eighth at the Big Ten Championships and qualified to the NCAA Championships for the fifth time in his career. The Urbana, Ill. native led the team in major decisions with six and was also named Academic All-Big Ten.
Moore wrestled at 125 pounds for the Illini where he held an overall record of 18-10 going 10-6 in dual action and a perfect 7-0 in Big Ten duals, one of only two starters to do so this season. He qualified to the NCAA Championships in his weight class after taking ninth at the Big Ten Championships to punch his ticket. He scored the fifth most dual points on the team with 38 and ended the season with a pin, two tech. falls and four major decisions.
