URBANA, Ill. — Illinois softball (8-23, 0-6 Big Ten) dropped the series finale to Northwestern on Sunday afternoon, 5-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a 15 pitch at-bat in the second inning, Northwestern's Isabel Cunnea doubled to left center field, scoring Kelsey Nader from first, who had reached on an Illinois error.
In the third, Northwestern plated four more, behind a solo home run from Grace Nieto and a three-RBI double from designated player Avery Garden.
With Yergler in the circle for Illinois, notching her sixth complete game of the season, the final four frames passed scoreless for both sides, and Northwestern took the 5-0 win. Yergler notched four strikeouts in the contest, and fell to 2-9 on the year.
