Fighting Illini Drop Series Finale Against Rutgers

RECAP

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini fell in its series finale to Rutgers, 8-3, on Sunday afternoon at Illinois Field.

After taking the first two games of the series, Illinois held a 3-0 lead in Game 3 before the Scarlet Knights scored the final eight runs of the afternoon. The Orange and Blue now sit at 12-10 overall and 4-5 in Big Ten play.

Collin Jennings collected a multi-hit day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double. Michael Farina and Jack Zebig accounted for the Illini's other two RBI.

On the mound, Aidan Flinn registered the longest start of his career, throwing five shutout innings with only two hits allowed.
