CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Illinois guard Keaton Wagler (Shawnee, Kansas) is Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the sixth time this season, the conference office announced Monday.
Wagler Highlights (Feb. 9-15)
• Averaged 26 points, five assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in a pair of games last week on 50% shooting from the field, including 43% from 3-point range.
• Game-high 34 points and seven assists vs. Wisconsin, with the 34 points ranking as the third-best scoring performance ever by an Illini freshman, and second among all Big Ten freshmen this season behind his record 46 at Purdue.
• 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals in win over Indiana.
Wagler's six Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors are the second-most in program history behind Kofi Cockburn, who earned seven newcomer awards in 2019-20.
Wagler and the No. 10 Fighting Illini are headed to Los Angeles for a two-game road trip this week. Illinois faces USC on Wednesday at 9 p.m. CT on BTN before taking on UCLA on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT on FOX.
