CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois men's tennis continues its 2025 fall schedule with a pair of tournaments spread across two states. The Fighting Illini are set to compete at the Harvard Chowderfest in Cambridge, Mass., from Sept. 19-21 and the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., from Sept. 20-28.
Two Illini will represent the Orange and Blue at the Harvard Chowderfest. Junior Jeremy Zhang returns to action after posting 11 singles wins as a sophomore, including a 2-1 stretch in singles and a 2-1 mark in doubles action at Chowderfest in 2024.
He will be joined by freshman Sasha Colleu, who is set to make his collegiate debut this weekend. A blue-chip recruit from Florida, Colleu arrived at Illinois as the No. 16-ranked American in the Tennis Recruiting Network's Class of 2025. On the junior circuit, he captured two doubles titles in 2023 and has five singles crowns to his name, most recently lifting the trophy at J100 Delray Beach in April.
Illinois will compete against a strong field in Cambridge, with Harvard hosting athletes from Brown, Yale, Cornell, SMU, and Boston University. The Crimson are coming off a 20-7 campaign and their sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, returning the majority of last year's singles victories along with nationally ranked players Benjamin Privara (No. 49 singles) and Masato Perera (No. 58 doubles with Privara).
At the ITA All-American Championships, Kenta Miyoshi and Adam Jilly will compete for the Illini in Tulsa. Miyoshi, now in his senior campaign, returns to the main draw after making his All-Americans debut last fall. Jilly, coming off being named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, will make his second collegiate appearance on the national stage in one of the fall's premier events.
Jilly will start his singles run in pre-qualifying action on Saturday, while Miyoshi will begin in the main draw, which gets underway on Wednesday.
The ITA All-American Championships serves as a pathway to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, scheduled for Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas. A total of 10 singles players and four doubles pairings will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championships through this event.
All eight quarterfinalists in singles, along with two feed-in consolation finalists, will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship field, while the four doubles semifinalist teams will secure bids to the NCAA Doubles Championship.
