CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini women's basketball freshman Cearah Parchment has been named to Canada's roster for the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup. Action will take place from July 12-20 in Brno, Czechia (Czech Republic).
Parchment is a 6-3 forward who hails from Whitby, Ontario, Canada. The rookie attended Fort Erie International Academy for her prep ball. She was a four-star recruit ranked No. 40 in espnW's HoopGurlz listing. Parchment joined the Fighting Illini in January 2025 after graduating high school early.
Parchment also represented Canada at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship. She was recognized as a BWB All Star following the 2024 BWB Americas event and was named to the 2023 FIBA Americas All-Star Five.
In total, 12 players were called up for the Canada women's U19 team's summer action. Training camp ran from June 22-28 followed by training in Portugal from June 29-July 3. Canda then played an exhibition tournament in Portugal from July 4-6.
In the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup, Canada is in Group B alongside Portugal, Nigeria, and China. A total of 16 teams qualified for the event. Canada's best finish in the event is third place, coming during the 2023 and 2017 competitions.
