CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – All eight Fighting Illini women's tennis student-athletes and the team as a whole were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their work in the classroom during the 2024-25 academic year, the organization announced on Monday.
Illinois owned a combined team GPA of 3.80 during the fall semester and 3.91 most recently in the spring term, exceeding the 3.2 GPA necessary to qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team award.
All eight Fighting Illini student-athletes surpassed the 3.5 GPA required to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2024-25 campaign.
In 2025, 1,462 Division I women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 222 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
Kida Ferrari, Megan Heuser, and Kasia Treiber closed their careers as four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete honorees. Violeta Martinez, McKenna Schaefbauer, Rosie Seccia, and Alice Xu each earned their second honors while Ariel Madatali collected her first ITA Scholar-Athlete nod.
Additional academic honors collected by head coach Evan Clark's squad this past season included Ferrari, Heuser, Martinez, Schaefbauer, Seccia, Treiber, and Xu tabbed Big Ten Distinguished Scholars and Big Ten Spring Academic All-Big Ten. In mid-May, Ferrari, Heuser, Schaefbauer, and Treiber were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
