CARY, N.C. -- University of Illinois head baseball coach Dan Hartleb has been named to the coaching staff for USA Baseball's 2025 Collegiate National Team Training Camp.
Hartleb will be serving his fifth USA Baseball assignment. He previously worked on the coaching staff for the 2023 USA Baseball 16U/17U National Team Development Program (NTDP), the 14U and 17U NTDP squads in 2014 and 2016, respectively, and named to the coaching staff for the 2021 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
Hartleb recently completed his 20th season as head coach at Illinois in 2025 and his 35th as a part of the Illini coaching staff. His 597 wins are the most in program history.
The Hamilton, Ohio, native will serve as the bench/hitting coach for Team Stripes, which will be led by manager Johnny Hernandez. Hartleb will also be joined on the Team Stripes staff by LaTroy Hawkins (pitching coach), Michael Choice (first base coach), Dave Tollett (third base coach), Butch Chaffin (assistant coach) and Joe McGowan (bullpen catcher).
USA Baseball's annual Stars vs. Stripes series will be held from June 29 to July 3 at various locations across North Carolina. Following Training Camp, which features 56 of the premier non-draft-eligible collegiate players in the country, the Stars staff will lead Team USA at the 45th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series from July 8-13 at various venues across Japan. The Stripes staff will guide select players on a Collegiate National Team Prospects squad in a Fourth of July matchup with the Appalachian League Select Team in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
