COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Illinois swim and dive team completed the first day of the Big Ten Championships on Wednesday (Feb. 19). Right off the jump the 200 medley relay team of Suvana Baskar, Kayla Duran, Logan Kuehne and Isabella Wilhelm wasted no time breaking a school record clocking in at 1:37.96. They placed ninth overall just narrowly missing the podium by less than half a second.
Sydney Stoll was the leadoff to the 800 freestyle relay where she broke her own 200 freestyle school record with a time of 1:46.70. The full team including Sara Jass, Maggie Adler and Chloe Diner swam the program's second-fastest time (7:13.32) in their 11th-place finish.
In the time trials, Laurel Bludgen swam the program's ninth-fastest 50 freestyle (23.12).
The Illini currently sit in 10th place as a team at the conclusion of day one with 72 points.
