MADISON, Wis. — Illinois swim and dive fell in its Big Ten opener to Wisconsin, 184-111, on Saturday afternoon inside the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center.
Between the lanes, Chloe Diner achieved a top-ten program mark in the 100 butterfly, finishing second with a time of 54:59. Diner also placed in the 200 IM (2nd, 2:02.68) and 100 breaststroke (3rd, 1:01.66). Michelle Kaner emerged victorious in the 100 backstroke (55.13), while Sara Jass took home gold in the 200 IM (2:00.04) and silver in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.15). The 200 freestyle relay team of Isabella Wilhelm, Sophia Yousuf, Maggie Adler and Stephanie Kirova brought home the final event win of the day, finishing in 1:32.34, while the 400 medley relay team of Sophia Paduano, Kayla Duran, Diner and Eva Allan captured third place and the third-best time in program history (3:40.03). Liv Dorshorst brought home silver in the 1000 freestyle (10:04.61) and 500 freestyle (4:56.11).
On the boards, Bethany Mercer earned bronze in the platform dive (217.88), while teammate Matilda Garcia tallied her own third-place finish in the one-meter dive (275.10).
