CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Illinois forward David Mirkovic (Niksic, Montenegro) is the inaugural Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the 2025-26 season, the conference office announced Monday.
David Mirkovic Highlights (Week of Nov. 3-9)
• Averaged a double-double of 18.0 points and 12.5 rebounds along with 2.5 assists in a pair of Illini wins.
• Shot 57% from the field and 91% from the free-throw line.
• Tallied 19 points, game-high 14 rebounds and four assists vs. Jackson State, becoming the first UI freshman since Kofi Cockburn to debut with a double-double.
• Had another double-double vs. Florida Gulf Coast, totaling 17 points with a game-high 11 rebounds.
• Ranks second in the Big Ten in rebounding after the opening week of play (12.5 rpg), and first among freshmen.
