CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois infielder Ava Moore was named to D1Softball's D100 Freshman Watch List, the publication announced on Wednesday.
The 2025 D100 Freshman Watch List includes players representing 50 different programs.
"When it comes to toughness, coachability and the will to win, Ava Moore is one of the best of her class," head coach Tyra Perry said. "Ava is the kind of player that is constantly soaking up information. She is internally motivated and approaches each training session with intent. Ava plays the game of softball with an intensity that makes us proud that she is on our team."
Moore was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Tecumseh High School. The Ohio native received the Allstate Insurance Good Hands award three times during her high school campaign. She was also named to the All-Central Buckeye Conference team in 2021-22 and 2024. During her senior campaign, when she was received First Team All Southwest District honors, Moore batted .548 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI. It was her third season batting above .500 as she did so during her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Not only a stellar infielder, Moore is a three time Ohio State Taekwondo Champion.
Moore and the Fighting Illini begin the 2025 season against CSU Bakersfield in Orlando, Fla. on Feb. 7.
