Illini Set for Windy City Collegiate Classic

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini are headed to Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill., to compete in the Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Northwestern. The tournament will be held from Monday, Sept. 30, to Tuesday, Oct 1.

THE SETTING

The 2024 Windy City Collegiate Classic takes place at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill. The course first opened in 1912, designed by architect William Watson and the club's first Golf Professional and Superintendent Joseph Roseman. Numerous changes were made to the course starting in 1920-21, when Wiliam Langford and A. W. Tillinghast executed a redesign of the course. In 1963 work was begun on the ponds on No. 13, No. 15 and No. 17. The pond on No. 8 was added during the major renovation supervised by Arthur Hills in 1993. Many prominent professionals and amateurs have been tested by the course including Bobby Jones, Chick Evans, Frances Ouiment, Walter Hagan, Jock Hutchison and many others. The course will be set up for a par 72 and will play 6,519 yards. 

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

This 54-hole stroke play tournament will feature 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Both days feature tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT.

THE FIELD
Along with the Illini, this 15-team, 80-player field includes Arizona, Arizona State, Augusta, Duke, Georgia, Iowa State, Northwestern, Oregon, Purdue, South Carolina, USC, UCLA, Virginia and Wake Forest.

ILLINI AT WINDY CITY COLLEGIATE CLASSIC

This will be the fourth time in program history that the Illinois women's golf program will be competing in the Windy City Collegiate Classic. The Illini finished 15th in this event last season while also posting a ninth-place finish in the 2008 edition of the tournament and 12th place in 2009.
