Illinois Track and Field Announces 2025 Schedule

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois track and field team released its schedule for the 2025 season, director of track, field and cross country Petros Kyprianou announced on Thursday (Sept. 12). The Illini will host four meets in 2025, two during the indoor season and two during the outdoor season.

The 2025 indoor season begins in the UI Armory on Jan. 11 for the Fighting Illini Open. The following Saturday, Jan. 18, the Illini head to Indianapolis, Ind., for the Hoosier Horsepower Classic. The Orange and Blue return to the UI Armory the following weekend (Jan. 24-25) for their final home meet of the indoor season, the Fighting Illini Challenge and Combined events.

The Illini will be split between two meets on Feb. 7-8, with the distance crew heading to Boston for the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational, the sprinters and field athletes going to Albuquerque, N.M., for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.

Illinois will head down to Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb. 14-15 for the Tyson Invitational and close out the indoor regular season on Feb. 22 in South Bend, Ind., for the Alex Wilson Invitational.

The Big Ten Indoor Championships are in Indianapolis this year from Feb. 28-March 1, when the women's team will aim to defend its title from last season. The NCAA Indoor Championships are in Virginia Beach, Va., on March 14-15.

The 2025 outdoor season kicks off March 21-22 with the USF Alumni Invitational in Tampa, Fla. Illinois will take the next two weeks off before their next meet on April 4-5 in Gainesville, Fla., with the Florida Relays. The Illini will have the following week off before competing in the middle of the week, April 16-17, at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

That weekend, April 18-19, the team will be split up again across two meets, with sprinters and field athletes going to the Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., and distance runners heading to Charlottesville, Va., for the UVA Challenge.

The Orange and Blue close out the outdoor regular season with back-to-back home meets at Demirjian Park. First, the Fighting Illini Twilight is set for April 26, followed by the third-annual Gary Wieneke Memorial on May 2-3.

The Big Ten Outdoor Championships are May 15-17 in Eugene, Ore. The NCAA West Preliminaries are in College Station, Texas from May 28-31, and the season comes to a close on June 11-14 with the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
