
Seventeen Fighting Illini Named to WCGA Academic All-American List

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Seventeen members of the 2024 Fighting Illini women's gymnastics team earned Academic All-American honors, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced on Wednesday. Student-athletes must secure at least a 3.5 GPA to earn the distinction.
Nationwide, 1,174 women's gymnasts from 63 collegiate programs received the honor, the highest amount ever recorded (since 2008, when WCGA began to collect the data). This year, Illinois ranked 28th in the nation for team GPA (3.6782) and 10th overall for the percentage of team members to earn Academic All-American status (85.71%).
Three athletes (Kaitlyn Ewald, Amelia Knight, and Mia Takekawa) earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the 2023-2024 academic year.
