Fourth-Quarter Comeback Not Enough in Illinois' Overtime Road Loss to Purdue

RECAP

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –  Illinois overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime, though the Fighting Illini's valiant effort did not prove to be enough in a 77-72 road loss to Purdue on Monday night.

Kendall Bostic secured her seventh double-double of the season, tallying a season-high 24 points and 15 rebounds. Playing in her home state of Indiana, she knocked down a career-high two 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Bostic also tallied three assists, three steals, and two blocks while playing a career-high 42 minutes.

Adalia McKenzie also finished with a double-double, her second of the campaign, recording 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. McKenzie was a force to be reckoned with on the glass, grabbing 12 offensive boards, which tied the program's all-time single-game record and were the most by an Illini player in a game since 2009. She accounted for the team's game-tying layup with nine seconds to play in regulation, and she also dished out five assists and made one steal in her career-high 42 minutes.

Makira Cook reached double figures for the seventh straight game, totaling 14 points, seven of which came in the first half. She also notched eight assists, one shy of her season-best tally, and made a career-high two blocks, including one with one second left to send the game to overtime. Cook also tacked on three rebounds and one steal and played all 45 minutes, which set a new career-best mark.

Genesis Bryant amassed nine points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Bryant's two offensive boards and 42 minutes both clinched new career-high marks.

Camille Hobby added five points and five rebounds, four of which came on the offensive glass. She also made one block.

After playing on the road the last two games, Illinois (10-11, 4-7 B1G) returns to State Farm Center for a two-game homestand. The Illini will open that stretch on Thursday, when they host Northwestern at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on B1G+.
