IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Illinois swim and dive team completed the Hawkeye Invite on Saturday (Nov. 23) placing fourth out of nine teams with 987.5 points. Senior Sydney Stoll clocked a 49.73 100 freestyle which ranks second in the Illinois record book, she placed sixth tonight in the A final.
Today's diving competition was the platform dive where sophomore's Bethany Mercer (230.30) and Elle Crisostomo (227.10) each earned their NCAA Zone cuts. Additionally, Mercer's 230.30 is the eighth-best score in program history and Crisostomo's 227.10 is the program's 10th best.
Three Illini swimmers placed inside the top 11 in the night session's 200 breaststroke finals. Junior Sara Jass swam in the A final placing sixth overall (2:15.39), freshman Kayla Duran won the B final on the program's third-fastest time to take ninth place (2:13.78) and freshman Chloe Diner placed third in the B final, 11th overall (2:15.44).
The 400 freestyle relay team of freshman Maggie Adler, Diner, senior Logan Kuehne and Jass closed out the Hawkeye Invite with a seventh-place finish (3:23.39). The team of senior Laurel Bludgen, freshman Isabella Wilhelm, senior Molly Yetter and Stoll finished directly behind them in eighth place (3:23.62).
