CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois swim and dive team is set for its midseason tournament, the Hawkeye Invite, in Iowa City, Iowa, on Nov. 21-23. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. and the finals will start at 5 p.m. CT each day. Teams participating in addition to Illinois include Arkansas, Colorado State, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, and San Diego State
The Illini placed third at their midseason tournament last year (Boilermaker Invite) with eight top-10 program marks, including four school records.
Freshman Chloe Diner leads the Fighting Illini, as she clocked a new school record in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.59) and swam the program's second-fastest 200 IM (1:59.18) in the Illini's last meet on Nov. 1. Freshman Kayla Duran etched her name into the school record books as well, swimming the second fastest 100 breaststroke in school history (1:01.82).Â
Diner and Duran also took part in the 200 medley relay, competing on separate teams for Illinois that both finished with top-10 program marks: seniors Suvana Baskar and Logan Kuehne along with freshmen Isabella Wilhelm and Diner finished with the fifth-fastest time (1:40.25), while seniors Sydney Stoll and Laurel Bludgen teamed up with freshmen Sophia Paduano and Duran to clock the eight-fastest time (1:40.67).Â
Freshman Kennedy Rainwater made her first appearance in the school record book in her debut on Nov. 1 where she swam the program's 10th-fastest 1000 freestyle (10:09.15).
