COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 25 Illinois wrestling squad dropped their Big Ten opener to No. 6 Ohio State, 36-6, on Friday. Jan. 12. Freshman No. 10 Kannon Webster (149 lbs.) earned his first ranked dual win in his college career with an upset 4-1 decision over No. 5 Dylan D'Emilio (OSU). Webster improves to 11-1 on the season and is the second Illini on the squad with double-digit wins.
Redshirt junior No. 3 Edmond Ruth (174 lbs.) improves to 12-1 on the season with a 2-1 decision over Rocco Welsh (OSU). He was the first Illini grappler to put double digits in the wins column. Ruth extends his team-leading win streak to seven and leads the Orange and Blue in dual points scored with 22.

The Orange and Blue wrestling crew is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. CT for the Big Ten home opener against in-state rival Northwestern at Huff Hall.
