CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini women's golf is set to compete in the Big Ten Championships at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh. The three-day tournament will be played on Friday, April 21, through Sunday, April 23.

THE SETTING

This year's Big Ten Championships will be held at Fox Chapel Golf Club. The course was designed by architects Seth Raynor and Charles Banks in 1925. The course will be set up for a par 71 and will play 6,045 yards long.  

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

All 14 Big Ten teams will be competing in the 54-hole tournament. There will be one 18-hole round of play each day, with Friday and Saturday tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT and Sunday's final round tee times beginning at 7:00 a.m. CT.

THE FIELD

Along with the Illini, the 14-team field for the Big Ten Championships will include Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Nebraska, Purdue, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin.

ILLINI AT BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Illini will be hunting for their first Big Ten title in program in program history. Under head coach Renee Slone, Illinois has finished tied for second twice in 2018 and 2019. The best finish in program history was a standalone second place finish in 1976, the first-ever season of Illinois women's golf.

The Fighting Illini placed fifth in last year's championships, which was also played at Fox Chapel Golf Club. Crystal Wang placed tied for sixth, with Kornkamol Sukaree (T-12th) and Isabel Sy (T-17th) also placing in the Top 20.

Illinois has four individual Big Ten medalists, Becky Beach in 1976, Slone (formerly Heiken) in 1991 and 1993, and Becky Biehl in 1992.
