Illinois Women’s Basketball Play4Kay Game Set for Feb. 19

News

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini women's basketball will host its annual Play4Kay Pink Game on Sunday, Feb. 19 in a 2 p.m. CT matchup against Penn State. This season's event is sponsored by Carle and will also feature a pink baseball cap giveaway.

Illinois will also host a silent auction with proceeds going towards cancer research. Donations have been made by local Champaign county businesses and surrounding minor league baseball, basketball and hockey teams. The silent auction will be located on the west concourse of State Farm Center.

Fans can help Illinois Athletics support the Play4Kay Organization by participating in the Free Throw Challenge pledge or by making a one-time donation. Proceeds benefit Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

With the Free Throw Challenge, fans can make a pledge for every free throw Illinois Women's Basketball makes during the month of February. Sign up for the Free Throw Challenge HERE or make a one-time donation HERE.

Entering the month of February, the Illini have made 75.2 percent of their free throw attempts this season, connecting on 246 of 327 shots from the stripe.

WHAT IS PLAY4KAY?

The vision of Play4Kay came directly from Coach Kay Yow.

Through Play4Kay, she saw a way to bring communities together and honor cancer warriors in the fight against ALL cancers affecting women. Uniting players, coaches, officials, and fans to do something for the greater good that far exceeds wins and losses in competition, the Play4Kay initiative is our largest fundraiser and plays a major role in our success.
