AUBURN, Ala. -- The Illinois dive team completed their first day of the Auburn Diving Invite on Saturday, Dec. 17 from the James E. Martin Aquatic Center. Day one of competition saw the one-meter dive; day two will be the three-meter dive and day three will be platform dive.
Senior Brooke Michael led all Illini divers with an eighth-place finish on the one-meter boards with a score of 241.55. Her twin sister, senior Taylor Michael, directly followed her with a ninth-place finish (233.55).
A pair of freshman qualified for the one-meter finals in Elleka Boeres and Bethany Mercer. Boeres scored 230.90 points to place 11th and Mercer scored 222.55 points to claim 12th.
Freshman Matilda Garcia (215.55) and Elle Crisostomo (179.15) did not make the finals placing 13th and 15th, respectively.
