CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– No. 25 Illinois will host No. 1 Kansas in the Maui Strong Relief Matchup on Sunday at 5 p.m. at State Farm Center.
Tickets for this event are still available, starting at just $40, and can be purchased online at FightingIllini.com.
All proceeds raised from this charity exhibition game will be donated to the Hawai'i Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund, providing financial resources to the relief efforts from the devastating Maui wildfires.
It will mark Kansas Coach Bill Self's return to Champaign, where he led the Fighting Illini for three years. While at Illinois, Self won Big Ten regular-season titles in 2001 and 2002, a Big Ten Tournament crown in 2003, and advanced to the 2001 NCAA Elite Eight.
Head coach Brad Underwood enters his seventh season at Illinois, where the Illini have made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, own four straight 20-win regular seasons, and have recorded four straight top-five Big Ten finishes highlighted by a league-best 16 wins and tournament title in 2021 and 15 wins en route to the regular season crown in 2022. Illinois is the Big Ten's winningest team in conference play over the last four years, with Underwood directing the program to a 55-25 record. The 55 Big Ten wins are the most over a four-year stretch in school history.
