CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois will open the 2023-24 season at No. 25 in the Associated Press Top 25.

Head Coach Brad Underwood's Illini appear in the AP preseason rankings for the fourth year in a row, which marks the longest streak in school history.

Illinois started at No. 8 in 2020-21, No. 11 in 2021-22, and No. 23 in 2022-23.

It is the 20th time in program history, meanwhile, that the Illini are ranked in the preseason poll.

Illinois is one of just three Big Ten teams ranked in the preseason poll, along with No. 3 Purdue and No. 4 Michigan State.

The Illini once again play a challenging non-conference schedule featuring three top-10 teams in No. 5 Marquette, No. 9 Tennessee, and No. 10 Florida Atlantic.

Illinois also will play No. 1 Kansas in a charity exhibition game Oct. 29 at State Farm Center. Illinois-Kansas tickets are on sale now and available at a newly introduced price of just $40, along with $85. All net proceeds from the Maui Strong Relief Matchup will go toward providing financial resources to the relief efforts from the devastating Maui wildfires.

Be There to Help Defend Our Homecourt
Illinois played in front of 12 sellout crowds in Champaign last season, including every Big Ten game, as the Illini FamILLy helped propel the program to its best homecourt record in 17 years. State Farm Center will be rocking once again with Illinois featuring one of the oldest and most experienced rosters in the nation, highlighted by the return of first-team All-Big Ten guard Terrence Shannon Jr. and versatile power forward Coleman Hawkins, who both withdrew from the NBA Draft to return to Champaign.

Support a B1G Winner
Illinois is the Big Ten's winningest team in conference play over the last four years, with Head Coach Brad Underwood directing the program to a 55-25 record. During this stretch the Illini have made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, own four straight 20-win regular seasons, and have recorded four straight top-five Big Ten finishes highlighted by a league-best 16 wins and tournament title in 2021 and 15 wins en route to the regular season crown in 2022. The 55 B1G wins are the most over a four-year stretch in school history.
