
Seventeen Illini Earn Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Seventeen Illinois softball student-athletes have been recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as 2021-22 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced Monday. Additionally, Illinois was recognized as a team for its 3.59 collective GPA across the 2021-22 school year.
"I am extremely proud of the effort our student-athletes give to be their best both on the field and in the classroom," shared Illini head coach Tyra Perry. "Our young women understand the value of quality instruction and work hard every day to achieve their educational goals. Our team is dedicated to academic excellence and each young lady recognized as an NFCA Scholar All-American is well deserving of this distinction."
Individually, 17 Illini from the 2022 squad were honored for their hard work in the classroom, meeting the GPA threshold of 3.5 or better. Those student-athletes include: Paige Berkmeyer, Zoe Caryl, Kylie Cleveland, Tonya Faulkner, Miranda Gallardo, Halle Mangurten, Stevie Meade, Brianna Nykaza, Kailee Powell, Gabi Robles, Delaney Rummell, Kelly Ryono, Sydney Sickels, Avrey Steiner, Jaelyn Vickery, Megan Ward and Lauren Wiles.
Illinois' team GPA of 3.59 tied for the 28th-best mark of all NCAA Division I programs while ranking second in the Big Ten. In total, 150 teams met the 3.0 requirement to earn Easton/NFCA Team GPA recognition.
