Rodgers signed with Illinois last November and will suit up for the Fighting Illini this fall. The four-star, top-100 recruit had a strong senior year at Thornton Township High School and following the season participated in the Jordan Brand Classic all-star game. Rodgers was a consensus first-team All-State selection and Player of the Year by the Daily Southtown after averaging 17.3 points, 15.4 rebounds, eight assists, three steals and three blocks while leading Thornton to a regional title and sectional final appearance.

Rodgers is the first player on the Fighting Illini roster to make a USA Basketball team in four years, since Ayo Dosunmu won a gold medal at the 2018 FIBA U18 Americas Championship in St. Catharines, Canada leading into his freshman season.
