Illini Celebrate Senior Day With Win Over Purdue

URBANA, Ill. – Illinois men's tennis concluded the regular season with a 4-1 win over Purdue on Sunday. Before the match Illinois honored graduate students Alex Brown and Olivier Stuart as well as Siphosothando Montsi.

"It felt good to go out there and get the win on senior day," said head coach Brad Dancer. "We've won four in-a-row now and have some good momentum heading into the tournament later this week."
The Illini picked up the doubles point over the boilermakers with victories on courts 2 and 3. No. 79 Stuart and Montsi defeated Wozniak/Welch 6-1 then #71 Brown and Guzauskas clinched the point with a 6-4 win over Brancatelli/Dudek.

In singles, #61 Stuart dominated on court 3 defeating Welch 6-0,6-0 to put the Illini up 2-0. No. 65 Heck continued his win streak today, defeating Bennett 6-3,6-2 on court 1. Purdue picked up a point with a victory on court 4. Nic Meister clinched the match for Illinois on court 5. Meister defeated Galas in two sets 6-3,6-3 to close out the match.
