2022 Spring ScheduleÂ
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois volleyball team announced its 2022 spring schedule on Thursday (February 10), with the Illini hosting a pair of home matches in Huff Hall as well as traveling for two road competition dates.
"We have a good mix of strong matches this spring," said head coach Chris Tamas. "We start by facing current Danish Cup Champions, who is coached by former men's club player and manager, Dan Pawlikowski. They have some former NCAA all-conferences players on the roster that will provide a nice challenge for our group. We follow that with a back-to-back, home-and-home sequence with Purdue, who is always a formidable opponent. We finish with a multi-team tournament in Indianapolis. As always, we will work on many lineups in the spring and it will give our players a taste of the level of competition we have to continually train at for the fall season. We look forward to the challenge and the opportunity to get better."
The Illini open their spring slate on March 9 as they welcome in the Brøndby Volleyball Klub, a Danish professional team touring the United States, at 5 p.m. CT in Huff Hall.
Illinois next has a home-and-home series with Big Ten Conference foe Purdue, with the Boilermakers first traveling to Champaign for a 5:30 p.m. CT match on March 31, before the Illini head to West Lafayette, Ind., for a 6 p.m. CT match on April 7.
The Illini will then wrap up their spring schedule with an all-day event as they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., for the Circle City Showcase on April 16.
The Illini are coming off of a 22-12 season in 2021, posting a 12-8 mark in the Big Ten and making their third NCAA Regional and fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in five seasons under Tamas.Â
