CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – With the 2022 season now underway, several Illinois men's golf alumni continue to make their marks in the professional ranks this past week.
DP World Tour
Thomas Pieters continued his strong play at the DP World Tour's Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic where he tied for 12th place thanks to a closing round of 5-under 67 at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai. The top-15 performance from Pieters comes just one week after his Rolex Series victory at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship for his sixth career DP World Tour victory.
Pieters is currently second in the DP World Tour Rankings and has moved up to No. 31 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Fellow Belgian and Illini alum Thomas Detry was also in action in each of the first two weeks of the DP World Tour 2022 season, tying for 53rd at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship before missing the cut last weekend in Dubai.
Detry and Pieters will next be in action at the DP World Tour's next stop: the Ras al Khaimah Championship presented by Phoenix Capital at Al Hamra Golf Club in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
PGA Tour
Former Illini Nick Hardy's rookie campaign on the PGA Tour rolled on last week with action at the Farmer's Insurance Open. Hardy, who has now made the cut in four of his seven events so far this season, and will now turn his sights to action at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Korn Ferry Tour
On the Korn Ferry Tour, one of the newest Illini to the professional ranks, Michael Feagles, took yet another step in his development at The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club. Feagles shot 70-71-72-75 and advance to the weekend for the first made cut of his young career at a Korn Ferry Tour event.
Next up, Feagles is set to tee off at The Panama Championship at Panama Golf Club, an event won by former Illini Scott Langley in 2018.
