Pairings for the 2021 Big Ten/ACC Men's Basketball Challenge were announced Monday, with Illinois set to host Notre Dame on Nov. 29.
This will mark the 43rd game between the Fighting Illini and Fighting Irish, though it will be just the fourth meeting since 1973. Illinois leads the all-time series 27-15. The most recent match-up was in the 2018 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, a 76-74 Notre Dame win in South Bend. The last time the two teams met in Champaign was the 2015 Challenge, an 84-79 Irish win.
Illinois was victorious in its most recent Big Ten/ACC Challenge contest, posting a 15-point win at No. 10 Duke last season. The Illini own a record of 9-13 all-time in the Challenge.
ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will once again combine to televise all 14 games of the 23rd annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge, matching top college basketball programs playing for the Commissioner's Cup. All games will also be available to stream via the ESPN app. Television network assignments and tip times will be announced at a later date.
Illinois recently announced a return to 100% capacity at State Farm Center. Season ticket renewals and new season tickets will go on sale in July. To receive the latest information on 2021-22 Illinois Basketball tickets, please complete the ticket interest form.
