
Illini Fall to Michigan in Big Ten Tournament

MADISON, Wisc. – The No. 7 seeded Illini Women's Tennis team came up short and lost to the No. 2 seed Michigan on Friday morning by a score of 4-0. With the loss, the Illini are eliminated from the Big Ten Tournament and sit at a season record of 9-9.
The Wolverines began the morning by obtaining the doubles point. Despite a strong showing on court three from sophomore Ashley Yeah and freshman Kate Duong in a 6-3 win, Michigan won on courts one and two to jump out to a 1-0 lead.
In the singles matches, the Wolverines quickly took victories on courts four and six to extend their lead to 3-0. Michigan then won in a tiebreaker in the second set on court five to earn their fourth and final point to clinch the match.
Courts one, two and three were left unfinished. Senior Asuka Kawai won the first set on court one 7-5.
