
Nowlin Finishes Fourth, Illini Sixth at Indiana Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Illinois' Tristyn Nowlin finished tied for fourth at 1-under Sunday at the Indiana Invitational, her second straight top-five finish. The Fighting Illini tied for sixth as a team with a final score of +23 during the 54-hole event.
Nowlin was consistent all weekend, posting back-to-back 71s after an opening round 73 to finish in fourth. She finished the final nine holes with seven pars and two birdies to move up the leaderboard.
Crystal Wang was also in the top 20, finishing at +4 to put her in a tie for 17th place. She carded rounds of 72, 74, and 74 for a 220 final.
Reena Sulkar was in 48th (+13), Isabel Sy and Ali Morallos finished 53rd (+15), and Sarah Hauenstein finished 62nd (+16).
Ashley Lau (Michigan), Valery Plata (Michigan State), and Emily Price (Kent State) tied for medalist honors at 4-under par. Kent State won the team event at -8.
Illinois is back on the course next weekend for the Big Ten Championships at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio.

Saturday's Recap
The Illinois women's golf team is in fifth place and senior Tristyn Nowlin is tied for sixth after the first day of the Indiana Invitational at Pfau Course at Indiana University. The Illini were scheduled to play 36 holes before round two was suspended due to darkness with Illinois on holes 11-13.
Illinois ended the day +13 as a team, led by Nowlin's even par score on the first 29 holes. Nowlin is four strokes off the pace set by Kent State's Emily Price.
Crystal Wang is also in the top 20 of individuals at +3, while Sarah Hauenstein is tied for 26th at +8. Ali Morallos, Reena Sulkar, and Isabel Sy are all tied for 45th place at +8.
Kent State leads the team leaderboard at -8. Maryland (+2), Michigan (+3), and Michigan State (+5) make up the rest of the top five.
The second round will be completed Sunday morning, followed by the final round.
