
Montsi Named Big Ten Athlete of the Week for Second Time this Season

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Redshirt sophomore Siphosothando Montsi was named Big Ten Tennis Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. It is the second time this season has earned the honor.
Montsi went undefeated in singles and doubles in Illinois' wins over No. 25 Michigan and Michigan State. He defeated No. 50 Ondrej Styler 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to clinch Illinois' win over No. 25 Michigan. Against Michigan State he defeated Carson Gates 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 at No. 1 singles in Illinois win over Michigan State. Montsi moves to 12-0 on the season.
Montsi was named 2020 Second Team All-Big Ten. Zeke Clark was named Athlete of the week in Febuary after a successful ITA Indoor Championships.
