Dosunmu and Cockburn Awards
Illini stars Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn have been selected to the 2021 John R. Wooden Award Presented by Wendy's All-American Team, while Dosunmu also has been named a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Friday on ESPNU.
The Wooden Award All-American Team is comprised of 10 student-athletes who were the top vote-getters from March 15-22 balloting in the quest to earn college basketball's most prestigious honor.
Illinois joins Gonzaga as the only schools with multiple players on the 2021 Wooden Award All-American Team.
This season marks the first time the Fighting Illini have had two Wooden Award All-Americans since 2005, when Dee Brown and Deron Williams were both chosen.
Dosunmu and Cockburn bring Illinois' total to seven Wooden Award All-Americans in program history since the honor began in 1977.
The 45th annual presentation of the John R. Wooden Award to the men's and women's most outstanding college basketball player will take place on ESPN SportsCenter on April 6.
