Starting today, fans will be able to purchase limited edition Illinois Basketball Silver Anniversary tee shirts from Nike. The shirts commemorate Illinois Athletics' 25-year partnership with Nike for all of its varsity teams. Offerings include a white long sleeve and an orange short sleeve DRI-FIT style shirt. For the first time, these officially-licensed designs will feature silver lettering to highlight the anniversary. 25 silver stars ring the Block I in the center of the shirts.
Shirts are available for sale beginning February 4 and can be found on the official online store at FightingIllini.com. In addition, the product can be found at other area retailers, including Gameday Spirit Fan Store in Champaign.
For the Illinois men's basketball game vs. Wisconsin on February 6, the team will wear the long sleeve shirts in pregame. In addition, as another unique way to recognize the Nike partnership, members of the Illini coaching staff will be wearing a specially-designed Nike Internationalist shoe featuring orange and blue with a silver swoosh. In a way for Fighting Illini fans to be a part of the anniversary, 10 sets of the staff shoes will be auctioned off on Fightingillini.com.
