URBANA, Ill. – The Illinois women's tennis team will travel north to Evanston, Ill. to take on the No. 7 ranked Northwestern Wildcats this Sunday, February 21. The dual match will begin at 3:00 p.m. and be played at the Combe Tennis Center. Matches will be available to be streamed.

LAST TIME OUT

Last weekend, Illinois faced two tough road tests, dropping matches to Iowa and Nebraska on Friday and Sunday. The Illini were led by freshman Kate Duong who did not miss a beat in her first Big Ten Conference action, posting a 2-0 record in singles and a 2-0 record in doubles.

SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN

The Wildcats have had a fantastic start to the year with a 6-1 record including four wins against ranked programs. They took down No. 7 North Carolina State to open the year, then followed with wins against No. 16 Wake Forest, No. 10 Oklahoma State and No. 9 Ohio State. Northwestern also came into Iowa City as the Illini left last weekend and defeated the Hawkeyes 6-1.

The last time the Illini took on the Wildcats, Northwestern took home a 5-2 win in March of 2019. Illinois looks to break a nineteen-match losing streak against Northwestern.
