Champaign, Ill.:Â The Fighting Illini are prepped and ready to go for their four day excursion in Indianapolis for the upcoming House of Champions Invitational this weekend. The Fighting Illini depart on Wednesday for Indy and will then compete from Thursday, November 17th-Saturday, November 19th.
This will be their first prelim-finals style competition this season, and the first visit to the House of Champions since pre-COVID 2019. The Fighting Illini will face off with IUPUI, Ball State, Butler, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Lewis, Milwaukee, and UIC in the meet. Morning sessions will begin at 10 a.m. ET and evening sessions at 6:00 p.m. ET. The diving team sessions begin at 1 p.m. ET.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Fighting Illini competed at the House of Champions Invitational was in November of 2019, where they placed third as a team with a 1,234 overall score. In that meet, 8 Illini clocked career bests, and then freshman Athena Salafatinos landed herself of the top 10 fastest individuals list for her performance in the 200 backstroke.Â
