Illinois Athletics Announces Homegrown Restaurant and Atkins Golf Club Summer Rates

NEWS

ATKINS GOLF CLUB WEBSITE | HOMEGROWN RESTAURANT WEBSITE | BUILD AT STONE CREEK

URBANA, Ill. – The University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the naming and grand opening of Homegrown, the new restaurant at the Atkins Golf Club, as well as the launch of sales for summer golf rounds.

Homegrown will be managed and run by St. Joseph, Illinois' Wheelhouse owners Abbie and Ryan Rogiers. The Homegrown grand opening for full dinner service is set for early December, with the exact date coming next month.  The menu will include tasty cuisine such as marcoot creamery herb and garlic cheese curds, buttermilk chicken wings, Cuban Rueben, grass fed beef stew, and a 16-oz. ribeye.

The Rogiers have owned the Wheelhouse since May 2017.  Natives of St. Joe's, they returned home to East Central Illinois to raise their family and serve high-quality farm-to-table cuisine. Homegrown will take that same concept, including, in-time, growing organic ingredients on a plot of land in the Stone Creek Subdivision.

JOB FAIR: Homegrown is looking for cooks, hosts and wait staff and will hold a job fair Tuesday, November 2 from 3-6 p.m. at the restaurant (2600 Stone Creek Blvd, Urbana, IL 61802). Email info@eatathomegrown.com for more information. No appointments necessary.

ATKINS GOLF RATES SET: While the opening date for the Atkins Golf Club course is set for June 2022, a special Atkins Players Card is available now for golfers making plans for next Summer. Until December 23, 2021, those who purchase the Atkins Players Card, priced at $300, will get a $50 Pro Shop credit. Atkins Players Card holders receive discounts on all golf rounds – a savings of $34 on weekend rounds, $19 off weekday rounds and $4 savings on twilight rounds. Eighteen-hole rounds for the card holders are priced at $45 with a cart and $30 for walkers, and nine-hole rounds are $25 with a cart and $20 for walkers.

The Atkins Golf Club also announced discounts for University of Illinois faculty, staff and students, as well as Alumni Association members, military and seniors, and homeowners in the Stone Creek Subdivision. Season passes will be available in 2023, the first full year of the course opening.

BUILD AT STONE CREEK: Over the past 12 months, Stone Creek Subdivision has become one of the hottest selling neighborhoods in Champaign County with nearly half of the 104 residential lots sold or under contract. Lots in Stone Creek start as low as $35,000 and feature generous lot sizes and custom builds. Stone Creek lots are eligible for the ThinkUrbana Tax Abatement program, which provides 55% savings on property taxes over five years on new construction and pay no sales tax on construction materials.

EVENTS AND HOSPITALITY AT ATKINS GOLF CLUB: Beginning January 2022, groups can book banquet and meeting spaces at Atkins Golf Club. The available areas include spaces for groups as small as 20-30 for meetings and private dinners, and room for large gatherings of as many as 200 in the upstairs ballroom. Contact Associate Athletic Director for Development, Operations, Bobbi Busboom, at busboom7@illinois.edu for more information.
