PREVIEW

OPENING TIP: The Fighting Illini face their first road test of the 2020-21 season, opening Big Ten Play against the host Nebraska Cornhuskers at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. Tipoff between the Illini (2-1) and the Huskers (2-0), is set for 7 p.m. CT. The game will be televised live on Big Ten Network with Larry Punteney (play-by-play) and Brenda VanLengen (analyst). Mike Koon will call the action for the Illini on WDWS 1400-AM. Streaming audio and live stats are also available at FightingIllini.com.

ABOUT NEBRASKA: Nebraska enters Thursday's game with a 2-0 record after notching home victories over Oral Roberts (90-61) and Idaho State (64-51). Freshman F Annika Stewart leads a quartet of double-digit scorers for Nebraska, averaging a team-high 13.5 points in a reserve role through two contests. Sophomore F Isabelle Bourne (11.5 ppg), senior C Kate Cain (11.0), and junior G Sam Haiby (10.0) are also averaging double-figures scoring. Haiby also leads the team in  rebounding (9.5 rpg) and assists (5.0 apg). The Huskers average 77.0 points per game, while holding opponents to 56.0 per contest. The team ranks among the NCAA leaders in several categories including No. 3 in defensive rebounding (39.5 per game), No. 7 in total rebounds per game (52.0), No. 7 in blocked shots per game (7.0), and No. 11 in field goal percentage defense (.293).. 

SERIES VS. NEBRASKA:  Thursday's matchup is the 20th in the series between the Illini and the Huskers, and the 15th since Nebraska joined the Big Ten prior to the 2011-12 season. Nebraska holds a 14-5 edge, including a 7-1 advantage in games played in Lincoln. The Illini are looking to snap a four-game Nebraska win streak; the last Illini win in the series was March 1, 2017, a 79-59 Illini win at the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana. Illinois is also in search of its first road win in the series since a 62-52 triumph on Jan. 17, 2013. Nebraska has won five straight at home vs. the Illini. 

UP NEXT: The Illini are slated to continue Big Ten play, hosting No. 19/20 MIchigan at State Farm Center on Saturday, Dec. 19. The Wolverines, off to a 4-0 start, are scheduled to host Butler on Wednesday, Dec. 9. The tip time and broadcast information for the matchup between the Illini and the Wolverines is still to be determined
