2020-21 ILLINOIS VOLLEYBALLÂ SCHEDULE | PDF SCHEDULE
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois volleyball schedule is set after the Big Ten announced the conference-wide schedule on Tuesday night. The conference-only schedule will run 11 weeks with two matches each week against the same opponent for a total of 22 regular-season contests this spring. Times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date. All home matches will be played at Huff Hall.
No season tickets will be sold and public seating and tickets will not be offered due to COVID restrictions until further notice.
"We are just excited to compete, period," said head coach Chris Tamas. "In 2020, we have come together and grown stronger through everything the year has thrown at us. We are very thankful for the leaders at the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and the University of Illinois for going above and beyond to give us the opportunity to step on the court and to do what we love to do."
Every Big Ten institution will have five two-game home series, five two-game road series and one split week with a geographically relevant opponent. Split week opponents were determined by mileage. No team has more than one instance of consecutive two-game series at home or away. None of these occurrences take place in the first or last two weeks.
The Illini will open the season on the road in Iowa City, Iowa, taking on the Hawkeyes on Jan. 22-23, before opening their home slate against Wisconsin on Jan. 30-31. A trip to State College follows as Illinois takes on Penn State on Feb. 5-6. UI then splits a home-and-home series with Northwestern, hosting the Wildcats in Huff Hall on Feb. 9, before traveling to Evanston on Feb. 13.
Illinois hosts Ohio State on Feb. 19-20 and will then head to East Lansing, Mich., to face Michigan State on Feb. 27-28. The Illini then return home to take on Nebraska on March 5-6, before heading back on the road for a trip to Minneapolis to play Minnesota on March 12-13.
The Illini will then play four-straight home contests, taking on Maryland on March 19-20 and Indiana on March 26-27. UI then finishes up the regular season against Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind., on April 2-3. Â
