Illini to Play at Duke in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

News

Pairings for the 2020 ACC/Big Ten Challenge have been determined, and the Fighting Illini highlight one of the marquee matchups in this year's event. Illinois will play at Duke on Tuesday, Dec. 8.

This will mark the eighth meeting between Illinois and Duke, and third time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Duke leads the all-time series, 5-2, which includes wins in both previous Challenge contests. The teams most recently met on Nov. 20, 2007 in the semifinal round of the Maui Invitational, a 79-66 Blue Devils victory.

Illinois has made one previous trip to Durham, N.C. During the late Lou Henson's final season as Illini coach, the Orange and Blue earned a 75-65 victory on Dec. 2, 1995 to snap Duke's 95-game winning streak against non-conference opponents at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will once again combine to televise all 14 games of the 22nd annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge, matching top college basketball programs playing for the Commissioner's Cup. All games will also be available to stream via the ESPN app.

Television network assignments and tip times will be announced at a later date.
