CHAMPAIGN - Fighting Illini women's basketball and head coach Nancy Fahey announced the 2019-20 season schedule in conjunction with the Big Ten Conference on Friday. Entering Fahey's third season at the helm of the program, the Orange and Blue will take on an exciting slate of opponents beginning November 5.

"We are excited to get things underway this season; we know it will be another highly-competitive Big Ten schedule," Fahey said. "Playing at North Carolina and Missouri early in the season will give us great preparation for league games. I know our team is looking forward to getting out on the court this season after our opportunity to play games in Australia this summer."

SCHEDULE NOTES

> The Illini will take on 10 teams who saw postseason action during the 2018-19 season, including Northwestern, who advanced to the 2019 WNIT Championship game. The Orange and Blue will welcome six of those opponents to the State Farm Center this season.

> The 2019-20 nonconference slate currently features seven home contests, including five weekend matchups, beginning on Tuesday, November 5 against Chicago State. Contracts are still being finalized for two non-conference games. The complete non-conference schedule will be announced when those are completed.

> The 2019 ACC/B1G Challenge will pit Illinois against North Carolina on December 5 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The trip will mark Illinois' first to Chapel Hill, and it will be the sixth meeting between the two programs. Illinois and North Carolina last met on Nov. 30, 2013 at the Cancun Challenge.

> The Illini are set to close nonconference play at Missouri on December 20. The Tigers are coming off of a 24-11 campaign in 2018-19 that concluded in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

> Illinois will play an 18-game Big Ten schedule. It is the seventh time in the last 13 years the conference has played an 18-game schedule. Illinois will face five schools both home and away and play the eight remaining schools once. Of the single-play opponents, the Illini will play four at home and four on the road.

> UI will open Big Ten play on Saturday, December 28, hosting Northwestern.

> Illinois' regular season finale is set for February 29 at Northwestern. The Illini will close the home slate on February 26 against Michigan State.

> The 2019-20 Big Ten Tournament is set for March 4-8 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
