Schedule Notes

» Illinois will play 19 home games at State Farm Center this season – 10 Big Ten, eight non-conference and one exhibition.

» The Illini will play a total of 14 games during the regular season against teams that participated in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

» The action gets started on Nov. 1 when the Illini host Lewis in an exhibition game Friday night of Dad's Weekend, prior to Saturday's home football game vs. Rutgers.

» The Illini officially open the season on Nov. 5 against Nicholls State. It will mark the earliest season opener in school history, following the NCAA calendar adjustment prior to 2018-19 that allow teams the opportunity to start the regular season as early as Tuesday of opening week (versus Friday as it had been in recent previous years). Prior to this season, the earliest Illinois season opener came on Nov. 8.

» After the opener, the Illini embark on a challenging two-game road trip. Illinois will play at Grand Canyon in front of its famed student-charged crowd on Nov. 8 and then travel from Phoenix to Tucson to face Arizona on Nov. 10 at McKale Center, where the Wildcats own one of the best homecourt records in the nation.

» Upon returning from the southwest, Illinois will enjoy a five-game homestand, culminating with the Dec. 2 Big Ten/ACC showdown against the Miami Hurricanes. The first four of those five home games occur from Nov. 18-26 (Nov. 26 home opponent listed as TBA until game contract is finalized).

» For the second year in a row, the Big Ten slate features 20 conference games, with each team playing seven teams both home and away and six teams once (three home, three away).

» 2019-20 will mark the first time in school history that Illinois will play 10 home Big Ten games in a single season.

» For the third straight year, all conference schools play their first two league games in early December. Illinois will open league play at Maryland on Dec. 7 before hosting Michigan on Dec. 11.

» The Illini close out 2019 with three weekend non-conference games, playing home games on Dec. 14 and Dec. 29 surrounding the 39th edition of Braggin' Rights vs. Missouri on Dec. 21 in St. Louis.

» The Illini have a daunting start to the new year when league play resumes in 2020, beginning with last year's co-champions. Illinois is at Michigan State on Jan. 2 before hosting Purdue on Jan. 5.

» After a trip to Wisconsin on Jan. 8, the Orange and Blue have consecutive Saturday games at State Farm Center, against Rutgers (Jan. 11) and Northwestern (Jan. 18).

» Three of Illinois' next four games are on the road, at Purdue (Jan. 21), Michigan (Jan. 25) and Iowa (Feb. 2), with the lone home date during that stretch versus Minnesota (Jan. 30).

» Illinois hosts Maryland on Feb. 7 in what will be the first Friday night Big Ten game ever played at State Farm Center. The Illini then welcome Michigan State to Champaign the following game, Feb. 11.

» Illinois concludes February with three out of four away from home, beginning with back-to-back east-coast trips to Rutgers (Feb. 15) and Penn State (Feb. 18). After hosting Nebraska on Feb. 24, the Illini are at Northwestern Feb. 27.

» Illinois finishes the regular season with consecutive weekend home games, taking on Indiana (March 1) and Iowa (March 8). In between those Sunday match-ups, the Illini play their final road game March 4 at Ohio State.

» The Big Ten Tournament returns to Indianapolis for the first time in four years, set for March 11-15 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
