ROSEMONT – Fighting Illini freshman Adrien Dumont de Chassart was recognized by the Big Ten Conference on Wednesday as the Big Ten Golfer of the Week. Dumont de Chassart is coming off of a stellar performance at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, where he earned his first-career individual tournament title. The conference honor marks the first for Dumont de Chassart in his career and the fourth for an Illini this season.
The Villers la Ville, Belgium, native fired a 9-under par 207 over the weekend to earn a six-shot victory at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate and help the Orange and Blue to a second-place team finish. Dumont de Chassart played all three rounds under par and led the tournament field with 15 total birdies. He played 49 of 54 holes at or under par throughout the three-round event, and posted a bogey-free second round.
Coming up, Illinois will take on the 3M Augusta Invitational April 6-7 in Augusta Georgia.
